Life under Democrats
In May 431,000 new jobs were created says the US Department of Labor. The economy has seen job gains for five (5) straight months. From Obama’s Racine speech, “Sometimes people don’t remember how bad it was and how bad it could have been. When I was sworn in, we were losing 750,000 jobs every month. The economy was shrinking at 6 percent. It was contracting by 6 percentage points. That’s faster than it had in decades. Today, it is growing again.”
“We continue to keep fighting for additional steps to speed up this recovery and keep the economy growing. We want an extension of unemployment benefits for workers who lost their job. We want to help small business owners get the loans they need to keep their doors open and hire more workers.
You’d think this is pretty straightforward stuff, but lately we’ve had to wrangle around what used to be noncontroversial – providing loans for small business, extending unemployment insurance when 8 million people lost their jobs during the recess. But lately, there’s a minority of senators from the other party who’ve had a different idea. As we speak they are using their power to stop this relief from going to the American people. And they won’t even let these measures come up for a vote.”
The other party wants to cut taxes for the wealthy, cut rules for corporations, and the worse idea is to let working folks to fend for themselves. Since none of you readers are big time wealthy and don’t own or run corporations, you are fending for yourself, while the GOP says it’s all your fault.
