General Membership Meeting
Join us for the Walworth Democrats’ monthly meeting to learn more about how to get involved with electing Democrats & building community this spring.
This Thursday, our topic is that "Big Beautiful Bill" & its UGLY impact on our working families and immigrant communities.
Guest Speaker: Jorge Islas-Martinez, Voces de la Frontera Board member, co-chair Whitewater Immigrant Coalition and on the faculty of Whitewater School District.
The worst of the Big Beautiful Bill include:
Cuts Medicaid by an estimated $600 billion.
At least 8.6 million Americans will lose health coverage.
Cuts SNAP impacting millions of kids and families to have enough to eat.
Overwhelmingly the tax cuts benefit the rich and penalize the working poor. Congressional Budget Office reports, the bottom 10% will lose 2% of their income while the top 10% gain 4%.
Billions more in funding to further terrorize our immigrants and continue the Trump Administration's cruel mass deportation agenda.
The bill will add $3.8 trillion to the US debt over 10 years. Interest paid by taxpayers goes primarily to wealthy lenders.
Lastly, a buried provision in this bill would prevent courts from holding Trump officials in "contempt of court", which would have a profound impact on the authority of the courts during the current Trump Administration's hostility towards judges.
All members of the Democratic Party of Walworth County are encouraged to attend and may vote.
